Prepared by acid hydrolysis of LPS from Salmonella minnesota Re 595. Component responsible for endotoxic properties of gram-negative bacterial lipopolysaccharides. Shows considerable similarity in structure and composition among enterobacteriaceaeand many other bacterial families.
