General description
A cell-permeable Antennapedia-NBD (NEMO binding domain) (wild type) fusion peptide that exhibits anti-inflammatory activity in mouse model of acute inflammation. NBD is an amino terminal α-helical region of the NEMO (NF-κB essential modifier; IKKγ) associated with a carboxyl-terminal segment of IKKα and IKKβ. This peptide blocks the association of NEMO with the IKK complex and prevents NF-κB activation. NEMO is also reported to suppress the intrinsic basal activity of the IKK complex. Its anti-inflammatory properties are attributed to the inhibition of cytokine-induced NF-κB activation and NF-κB-dependent gene expression. Does neither affect the TNF-α-induced phosphorylation of c-Jun nor the DNA binding of Oct-1 transcription factor.
A cell-permeable Antennapedia-NBD (wild type) fusion peptide that exhibits anti-inflammatory properties. Acts by inhibiting cytokine-induced NF-κB activation and NF-κB-dependent gene expression. Suggested to block the interaction of NEMO with the IKK (IκB)-kinase complex and thereby prevents NF-κB activation. Does not affect the TNF-α-induced phosphorylation of c-Jun and DNA binding of the transcription factor Oct-1.

"Toll-like Receptors (TLRs) are transmembrane proteins that are expressed on various immune cells. The extracellular N-terminal region of TLRs recognizes specific pathogen components. At least 13 different members of TLR family have been identified that detect different pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), including lipopolysaccharides, flagellin, bacterial CpG DNA, and viral RNA and DNA. Recognition of PAMPs by TLRs is considered as a key process for the induction of an inflammatory response."
