当异源蛋白在大肠杆菌中表达时，Rosetta-gami 2宿主菌株结合了Rosetta 2和Origami 2菌株的优势，以减轻密码子偏倚并增强细胞质中二硫键的形成。这些trxB/gor突变体与卡那霉素抗性载体兼容，并携带有氯霉素抗性pRARE2质粒，该质粒提供七个稀有tRNA。

DE3表明宿主是λDE3的溶原菌，因此在lacUV5启动子的控制下携带T7 RNA聚合酶的染色体拷贝基因。这样的菌株适用于通过用IPTG诱导从克隆在pET载体中的靶基因生产蛋白质。

Rosetta-Gami 2宿主菌株可增强二硫键的形成并增强真核蛋白的表达，该真核蛋白含有在大肠杆菌中很少使用的密码子。
