General description

转录因子SOX-9（UniProt P48436；也称性别决定区Y-box 9蛋白，SRY相关的HMG-box基因9）由人类SOX9（也称CMD1、CMPD1、SRA1）基因（基因ID 6662）编码。Sox基因家族包含与哺乳动物性别决定基因SRY相关的基因家族。这些基因包含编码HMG-box域的序列，该序列可介导序列特异性DNA结合。Sox基因编码转录调节因子，并参与发育过程中细胞命运的决定以及各种发育过程的控制。Sox基因群非常复杂，已经发现至少40个基因组位点和至少30个Sox基因。
