Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:250 dilution from a representative lot detected PRKCI/Protein kinase C iota in HeLa, A431, and NIH/3T3 cells.

PRKCI, or Protein kinase C iota, is an important calcium- and diacylglycerol-independent serine/ threonine-protein kinase that plays a general protective role against apoptotic stimuli, regulates NF-kappa-B activation, cell survival, cell differentiation and polarity, and contributes to the regulation of microtubule dynamics during development. PRKCI also plays roles in many other systems including neuronal survival and it helps organize the apical growth and polarization of epithelial cellular extensions. PRKCI is localized in cytoplasm, membranes, endosomes, and nucleus. PRKCI is predominantly expressed in lung and brain but is also expressed at lower levels in many tissues including is pancreatic islets. PRKCI is also over expressed in many cancers including small cell lung cancers.
