General description

ALKBH1是一种DNA裂解酶，对DNA修复至关重要，并通过氧化去甲基化特异性修复烷基化的单链DNA和含有3-甲基胞嘧啶的RNA。ALKBH1还可以在碱性位点裂解单链和双链DNA，且ALKBH1可以在碱性位点诱导双链断裂。最后，ALKBH1在发育过程中在胎盘滋养细胞谱系分化中起作用，ALKBH1也可能在神经元发育和迁移中起作用。ALKBH1广泛表达并定位于线粒体和细胞核。ALKBH1的核定位似乎是具有核靶蛋白融合蛋白的一部分，或者是去除了前26个N末端残基时。
