Dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase 2 (DDAH2) is also called N(G),N(G)-dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase 2 (DDAH-2), DDAHII, Dimethylargininase-2, Protein G6a and S-phase protein. DDAH2 is involved in nitric oxide generation through the hydrolyzation of N(G),N(G)-dimethyl-L-arginine (ADMA) and N(G)-monomethyl-L-arginine (MMA) which are NOS inhibitors. DDAH2 is expressed in heart, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas.
