General description
Corticotropin-Releasing Factor Receptor 2 (CRFR2) is a G-protein coupled receptor for CRH (Corticotropin-releasing factor), UCN (urocortin), UCN2 and UCN3. Ligand binding activates adenylate cyclase leading to an increase in cAMP levels and subsequent gene activation. CRFR2 binds Urocortin (UCN) with the highest affinity. CRFR2 is localized to the plasma membrane, and CRFR2 has numerous isoforms but their functional importance remains to be discovered. Latest research is focused upon antagonists of the receptors for CRF. Astressin2-B, which is specific for CRFR2 and Astressin B which binds both CRFR1 and CRFR2 are two recent peptide antagonists. The research hopes to develop treatments for many CRF-dependent diseases in the periphery such as irritable bowel syndrome and even perhaps various social behaviors such as anxiety and anti-social activities.
~49 kDa observed. Uniprot describes 5 isoforms produced by alternative splicing from ~45-65 kDa

Chronic inflammation promotes development and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). We explored the distribution of Corticotropin-Releasing-Hormone (CRH)-family of receptors and ligands in CRC and their contribution in tumor growth and oncogenic EMT. mRNA expression of CRH-family members was analyzed in
