General description

Benzene is an aromatic hydrocarbon which has a planar, As a non-polar solvent, benzene is effective for dissolving a wide range of organic compounds, particularly non-polar substances. Its low dielectric constant further enhances its ability to solubilize various organic materials, making it a valuable solvent in many industrial and laboratory applications.

Application

Benzene is used as a solvent

  • in initiating the living anionic polymerization of styrene.
  • to synthesize nanoparticles of gallium nitride (GaN) through the reaction of Li3N and GaCl3 at a temperature of 280°C.
