HumanKine^® IL-6, Human Recombinant Xeno-Free

HumanKine growth factors are expressed in a proprietary human 293 protein expression system and are manufactured without the use of any animal products and are considered Xeno-Free.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that seems to be involved in the late stages of CTL generation. Other biological functions also include amplification and the inflammatory response. Combination therapies including IL-6 have been shown to have positive effects on specific malignant tumor types. The accumulation of IL-6 in the CNS is usually detrimental and can contribute to pathology of CNS diseases. IL-6 signaling is negatively regulated by TGF-beta, which down regulates STAT1, STAT3 and ICAM-1 expression. IL-6 expression has been linked to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and is also the primary clinical target for IBD.

Bioactivity assay: Determined by the dosedependent stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells (human erythroleukemic
indicator cell line). ED50 is typically 0.2-1 ng/ml.
