55-Plus^™ monitor

55-Plus^™ Monitor is a ready-to-use, sterile, disposable filtration unit designed to recover microorganisms in beverages and in-process water. The filtration unit can filter sample volumes up to 100 mL and convert the disassembled unit to a culture dish by adding 2 mL of the culture media to the base after sample filtration. The base consists of a white gridded, mixed cellulose esters (MCE) membrane bonded to an AP10 absorbent pad. The port design allows air to escape and prevents the membrane from bowing upon introducing a nutrient. The plastic adapter is used to make a connection between the 55-Plus^™ Monitor and a No. 8, one hole (3/8” I.D.) neoprene stopper. A graduated, 110 mL funnel fits onto the base and has a funnel lid with a built-in magnifying “glass” to aid in the examination of discrete, pinpoint colonies. The 55-Plus^™ monitors have 50% more filtration area than conventional 47 mm filter holders and devices, resulting in faster flow rates. The 55-Plus^™ Monitor has been exposed to gamma irradiation to reduce its ambient microbial load.
