General description
可识别磷脂酰肌醇蛋白聚糖1，~ 59 kDa。
硫酸乙酰肝素蛋白多糖（HSPG）的一般类型分为
细胞相关形式（包括多配体聚糖、磷脂酰肌醇蛋白聚糖）和分泌性胞外基质形式，如基底膜蛋白多糖。到目前为止磷脂酰肌醇蛋白聚糖含有六个家族成员，它们是通过糖基磷脂酰肌醇锚着点与质膜外表面结合的蛋白质，并涉及细胞粘附和迁移，可作为信号传导受体的辅助分子(Filmus, 2008 & Gui, 2006)。当前发表的论文表明，与膜连接的磷脂酰肌醇蛋白聚糖其主要功能是调节Wnts和Hedgehogs信号传导、成纤维细胞生长因子、骨形态发生蛋白（BMP）(Filmus, 2008)。
磷脂酰肌醇蛋白聚糖1（GPC1）在人神经胶质瘤中过度表达，在一些神经胶质瘤中它促进FGF-2 信号传导的能力优于正常星形胶质细胞中的HSPG。 额外的观察表明GPC1可以通过减缓肿瘤血管生成，影响胰腺癌细胞的生长（Whipple, 2008）。
