General description
Mucin-13 (MUC-13) is also called Down-regulated in colon cancer 1 (DRCC1). MUC-13 is an epithelial and hemopoietic transmembrane mucin that is likely involved in cell signaling. MUC-13 is highly expressed in epithelial tissues (especially in gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts) as well as kidney, small intestine, appendix and stomach.
~33 and ~60 kDa observed. Swiss-Prot describes a molecular weight of ~55 kDa Due post-translational modification, this protein is cleaved resulting in beta subunit (~33 kDa) and an alpha subunit (Williams, S. J., et al. (2001). J Biol Chem. 276(21):18327-18336. Maher, D. M., et al. (2011). Mol Cancer Res. 9(5):531-537.). Uncharacterized band(s) may be observed in some cell lysates.
Immunogen
Epitope: This antibody recognizes the cytoplasmic domain within the Beta subunit of MUC-13.

Intestinal mucosal healing is nowadays preferred as the therapeutic endpoint in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but objective measurements at the molecular level are lacking. Because dysregulated mucin expression is suggested to be involved in mucosal barrier dysfunction in IBD, we
