General description

Signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6) transduces signals from extracellular cytokines during adaptive immunity and has recently been found to be important in the innate immune response to viral infection. STAT6 is also involved in the attenuation of the Th1 and Th17 in the nephritogenic immune response. The consequence of STAT6 activity has been associated with the pathogenesis of autoimmune disease and has been found to be actively imported to the nucleus.
