General description
Neuroglobin protein encoded by the gene NGB, is involved in oxygen transport in the brain. Neuroglobin is also important for neuroprotection during oxidative stress. Additionally, Neuroglobin has anti-apoptotic activity by reseting the mitochondrial membrane tigger level for cytochrome C release and the commitment to apoptosis. Neuroglobin is localized to the perikaryon, cytoplasm, and mitochondrion. Neuroglobin is predominantly expressed in the brain with strongest expression in the frontal lobe and the subthalamic nucleus and thalamus.
~17 kDa observed
Immunogen
GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to the N-terminus of human Neuroglobin.
Application
Detect Neuroglobin using this mouse monoclonal antibody, Anti-Neuroglobin Antibody, clone 6G1.1 validated for use in western blotting & IHC.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected Neuroglobin in human thalamus and human frontal lobe tissue.

A promising therapeutic strategy to delay and/or prevent the onset of neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) could be to restore neuroprotective pathways physiologically triggered by neurons against stress injury. Recently, we identified the accumulation of neuroglobin (NGB) in neuronal cells, induced by
