Anti-ANT1/SLC25A4 Antibody, clone IF3F11

ADP/ATP translocase 1 (UniProt: P12235; also known as ADP/ATP carrier protein 1, ADP/ATP carrier protein, heart/skeletal muscle isoform T1 1 , Adenine nucleotide translocator 1, ANT 1, Solute carrier family 25 member 4) is encoded by the SLC25A4 (also known as AAC1, ANT1) gene (Gene ID: 291) in human. ANT1 is a multi-pass inner mitochondrial membrane protein with six transmembrane domains. It serves as an ADP:ATP antiporter that mediates import of ADP into the mitochondrial matrix for ATP synthesis, and export of ATP out to provide energy for cellular functions. It is reported to cycle between the cytoplasmic-open state (c-state) and the matrix-open state (m-state) and operates by the alternating access mechanism with a single substrate-binding site intermittently exposed to either the cytosolic or matrix side of the inner mitochondrial membrane. It is also involved in mitochondrial uncoupling and mitochondrial permeability transition pore activity. ANT also acts as a regulator of mitophagy independently of ADP:ATP antiporter activity. It promotes mitophagy via interaction with TIMM44 that leads to inhibition of presequence translocase TIMM23, thereby promoting stabilization of PINK1. ANT1 deficiency has been implicated in various pathological states, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, mitochondrial myopathy, lactic acidosis, and progressive external opthalmoplegia. Clone IF3F11 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects Adenine nucleotide translocator 1 (ANT1/SLC25A4). It targets an epitope within 15 amino acids from the internal region.
