General description

微管蛋白是细胞骨架的主要成分之一。它是由互锁的α和β链组成的异二聚体结构。像其他细胞骨架蛋白一样,微管蛋白会根据细胞环境而发生动态变化,这是由GDP/GTP的结合和释放介导的。微管蛋白也可能经历翻译后修饰,并且对于细胞运输和有丝分裂过程至关重要。
观测分子量〜60 kDa。Uniprot描述的分子量约为46 kDA,但由于翻译后修饰而可能更高。在一些细胞裂解物中观察到该蛋白的分子量约为55 kDa(Saugstad,J.A.,et al.(2002).J Neurochem.80(6):980-988.)。
