General description

Assemble your Amicon Stirred Cell with the membrane of your choice. Ultrafiltration cut disc membranes are available in Ultracel regenerated cellulose and Biomax polyethersulvone (PES). The membranes are available in a range of different pore sizes & diameters.
Ultracel regenerated cellulose membranes are recommended for concentrating or desalting dilute solutions. The hydrophilic, tight microstructure of Ultracel membranes assures the highest possible retention with the lowest possible adsorption of protein, DNA or other macromolecules.
Biomax PES membranes are recommended for concentrating or desalting higher volumes of more concentrated samples such as serum, plasma, or conditioned tissue culture media.
Microfiltration Durapore PVDF cut discs are available 0.1 µm, 0.22 µm, and 0.45 µm pore sizes in both 63.5 mm and 75 mm diameters.

You’re adept at finely separating macrosolutes in large-volume (50-400 mL) samples, and you depend on the precision of Amicon® devices. Or maybe you are an expert in membrane analysis, and you count on a device that lets you insert membranes of your choice. With your needs in mind, EMD Millipore has developed the new Amicon® Stirred Cell, providing the same gentle, high recovery of macrosolutes and thorough buffer exchange to which you’re well accustomed. It provides the same membrane flexibility and ability to monitor filtration progress.

The Amicon® Stirred Cell family of pressure-driven filtration devices provide an ideal solution for concentrating and buffer-exchanging large volumes of macrosolutes. These devices are available in multiple sizes to offer a wide range of processing volumes. Additionally, to accommodate expansion to even larger processing volumes, an external reservoir can be attached to any Amicon® Stirred Cell. Unlike ultrafiltration with tangential flow filtration (TFF) devices, which are manufactured with pre-sealed membranes, the Amicon® Stirred Cells use membrane discs, which are easily exchanged to match changing sample preparation needs.
