从小牛胸腺中分离得到的组蛋白H1、H2A、H2B、H3和H4的混合物。
组蛋白是一组DNA结合蛋白,其特征是赖氨酸和精氨酸含量较高。分离和表征了五种不同的组蛋白级分。它们被命名为组蛋白H1、H2A、H2B、H3和H4。H1级分富含赖氨酸,而H2A和H2B级分略微富含赖氨酸,H3和H4级分富含精氨酸。组蛋白的分子量约为11-21 kda,取决于具体级分。

应用
小牛胸腺组蛋白可用于:
- 体外激酶活性测定,检测蛋白激酶A催化的组蛋白磷酸化程度。
- 检测水稻蛋白精氨酸甲基转移酶(OsPRMT)的体外甲基转移酶活性。
- 抗组蛋白ELISA。
生化/生理作用
组蛋白在染色质的组织和修饰中发挥重要作用。核小体是染色质的基本单位。它由两个各含组蛋白H2A、H2B、H3和H4的分子组成,包裹着大约146bp的DNA。组蛋白H1在DNA入口和出口点与核小体结合并使其稳定。
