General description
Potassium Tellurite Solution is a sterile, filter-sterilized 1 % solution specifically designed for the selective isolation of Staphylococcus and Corynebacteria in microbiological applications, complying with ISO 6888-1:2020 standards. Its selectivity arises from the inhibitory action of potassium tellurite against many gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria, allowing only the target organisms to thrive. Staphylococci and Corynebacteria can metabolize potassium tellurite, reducing it to telluride and forming distinctive black colonies, which aids in differentiation. This optimized solution provides an environment conducive to the growth of these bacteria while suppressing others.

Chromogenic media enable the selective detection of S. aureus, which produce bluish-green colonies that are clearly differentiated from other species.
显色培养基能够选择性检测金黄色葡萄球菌,该葡萄球菌产生的蓝绿色菌落与其他物种明显不同。

The nucleotide sequence of a 4,539 bp fragment of Bacillus stearothermophilus V mediating tellurite resistance in Escherichia coli was determined. Four ORFs of more than 150 amino acids encoding polypeptides of 244, 258, 308, and 421 residues were found in

A selective enrichment broth (SVV) was formulated to allow concurrent growth of Salmonella spp., V. parahaemolyticus, and V. cholerae. Potassium tellurite and sodium citrate were added as the inhibitors, while glucose, mannitol, anhydrous sodium sulfite and sodium pyruvate were employed

Biochemical, genetic, enzymatic and molecular approaches were used to demonstrate, for the first time, that tellurite (TeO(3) (2-)) toxicity in E. coli involves superoxide formation. This radical is derived, at least in part, from enzymatic TeO(3) (2-) reduction. This conclusion
