General description

Potassium phosphate monobasic is a soluble salt employed as heterogeneous catalyst, additive, fungicide, buffer, and plant fertilizer.

Application

Potassium phosphate monobasic can be used as a catalyst:

In the regioselective monobromination of aralkyl ketones to synthesize monobrominated ketones.
To synthesize acridine-1,8-diones and hexahydroquinolines via Hantzsch type reaction.

It can also be used as an additive in the oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes. The role of KH₂PO₄was to regulate the pH of the solution, which affected the rate at which hydroxyl radicals were generated. As a result, the reaction′s selectivity was improved.
