2-苯氧基乙醇可用作合成二有机联硒化物衍生物的起始材料。在Ti4+ 阳离子交换蒙脱石催化剂存在下，它可与9-芴酮发生芳烃烷基化反应，形成9,9-双[4-(2-羟乙氧基)苯基]芴。
