Heroin is a highly addictive illicit drug and opioid agonist, widely used in medical applications as an analgesic.

Application

Heroin may be used as a standard to determine the amount of heroin present in clandestine heroin samples using capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) technique. Heroin may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in biological samples using different chromatography techniques.
