General description

Drierite^™ (CaSO₄) is widely employed as a chemical desiccant in laboratories. Its use is preferred over silica gel for the estimation of CO₂. It acts as a drying agent by absorbing moisture in air to form CaSO₄hemihydrate.

Application

Drierite^™ (CaSO₄) was used in Drierite^™/Ascarite column for the purification of air during the estimation of CO₂ production by flow-through respirometry system.
it may be employed as drying agent in the following studies:

For the removal of water via adsorption during the gas-chromatographic estimation of methanol, ethanol and isopropanol in biological samples.
As scrubber for the drying of air.
For the drying of nitrile samples during the calorimetric estimation of their enthalpies of vaporization.
For the removal of water vapor during the coulometric estimation of carbon dioxide for air pollution monitoring.
