一般描述

过氧化氢酶广泛存在于动物、植物、真菌和人体中。它由环状多肽链组成，这些链被排列成四聚体或二聚体，并含有铁或锰离子的核心。过氧化氢酶可分为两种类型：一种是含血红素的（I型），其具有铁卟啉辅因子；另一种是不含血红素的（I型），其具有双核锰活性位点。

应用

来自谷氨酸棒杆菌的过氧化氢酶已用于鉴定和表征通过苏云金芽孢杆菌生产的纯化细菌肽（PPBP）。它也可用于研究一氧化氮对其的抑制作用。

生化/生理作用

过氧化氢酶是一种抗氧化酶，通过将过氧化氢分解为氧气和水来减轻氧化应激的作用。较低水平的过氧化氢酶会导致多种与年龄相关的疾病，包括高血压、贫血、白癜风、帕金森病、阿尔茨海默病、′精神分裂症、双相情感障碍、糖尿病和癌症等。′
