一般描述

N-乙酰血清素 (NAS)（又称normelatonin）是色氨酸代谢途径中褪黑激素的前体。

应用

N-乙酰基-5-羟色胺已被用于治疗神经元细胞，并分析其对Krüppel样因子15（KLF15）表达的影响。

生化/生理作用

N-乙酰血清素（NAS，又称normelatonin）可以保护神经元，因为它能够防止氧化胁迫。 它还可以抑制转录因子NF-κB的作用。NAS具有抗氧化和抗衰老作用。它可以防止β-淀粉质引起的神经毒性。它有助于维持生物膜的最佳流动性能。
褪黑激素的直接前体。它由血清素和乙酰辅酶 A 在血清素 N-乙酰转移酶（褪黑激素生物合成中的限速酶）催化下形成的。该吲哚胺是褪黑激素受体的弱激动剂，对 G 蛋白刺激和 cAMP 积累的抑制有一定的作用。
