ESRRB encodes a protein with similarity to the estrogen receptor. Its function is unknown; however, a similar protein in mouse plays an essential role in placental development. General description
Estrogen-related-receptor β (Esrrb) is a member of the nuclear orphan receptor family that can induce cell differentiation in cultured mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells. Studies have reported that Esrrb can stimulate Oct4 transcription. This receptor can also regulate the pulripotency of ES cells.
