Anti-CDH3 polyclonal antibody is used to tag placental-specific cadherin proteins for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in cells and tissues by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to study the role of P-cadherin in cell adhesion and protein:protein interactions.

Anti-CDH3 polyclonal antibody reacts with pig, mouse, human, and bovine P-cadherin proteins.

CDH3 is a classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. The protein is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. Its gene is located in a six-cadherin cluster in a region on the long arm of chromosome 16 that is involved in loss of heterozygosity events in breast and prostate cancer. In addition, aberrant expression of this protein is observed in cervical adenocarcinomas.
