NDRG1 is a member of the N-myc downregulated protein family which belongs to the alpha/beta hydrolase superfamily. Mutation in its gene has been reported to be causative for hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy-Lom.This gene is a member of the N-myc downregulated gene family which belongs to the alpha/beta hydrolase superfamily. General description
N-myc downstream regulated 1 (NDRG1) is a cytoplasmic hydrolase that modulates stress, hormonal responses, cell growth, differentiation and LDL receptor trafficking. It mediates antimetastatic effects in cancer cells and is downregulated in prostate cancer cells.
