A human T cell leukaemia cell line established from the bone marrow of a 2-year-old boy diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) prior to therapy in 1972; cells were reported to carry the MLL-AFX and AFX-MLL fusion genes, the original diagnosis was T-ALL.

Preparation Note
Maintain cultures between 0.5 - 2 x1000,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C. Doubling time 50-100 hours. Split saturated culture 1:2 to 1:3 every 2-3 days. Spherical cells growing in clusters in suspension.
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 20% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS). For slower growth use 10% or 5% FBS.
