A smooth muscle cell line derived from a leiomyosarcoma of the ductus deferens of a Syrian hamster. Growth is stimulated by androgens and inhibited by glucocorticoids.

Preparation Note
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Dilute cultures 1:20 dislodging cells by mechanical agitation (0.25% trypsin may be used if necessary); 5% CO2; 37°C.
