Established from the ascitic fluid of a Novikoff hepatoma. The cells can be synchronised for cell cycle studies. N1-S1 has also been used for studies of pyrimidine metabolism, DNA synthesis and methylation and ribosomal RNA maturation.

Preparation Note
Maintain cultures between 4x10,000 to 1,000,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C. Subculture every 3-4 days by centrifugation or medium addition.
Swimm′s S-77 + 2mM Glutamine + 0.1% Pluronic F68 +10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
