Transformation and virus studies: M-MSV, MuLV
Biochem/physiol Actions
Derived from BALB/3T3 clone A31 (Sigma Catalogue number. 86110401) by infection with M-MSV. A M-MSV non-producer, but addition of MuLV permits rescue of the MSV genome. Cells produce tumours in suitable hosts; lack contact inhibition in vitro cultures; morphologically identical to virus releasing lines.

Preparation Note
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
