Biochem/physiol Actions
Derived from a male Wistar rat bladder tumour induced with N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl) nitrosamine. The histotypic differentiation normally displayed by these cells is inhibited by vitamin A and gives rise to the appearance of giant cells.

Preparation Note
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 2.5x1,000,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 1mM Sodium Pyruvate (NaP) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
