Biochem/physiol Actions
COLO 677 was originally described as being derived from a tumour in the left axillary lymph node of a 39-year-old male with small lung cell carcinoma in 1989. However, DNA fingerprinting suggests cross-contamination with cell line RPMI-8226; RPMI-8226 was established from the peripheral blood of a 61-year-old male with multiple myeloma in 1966 (see DSMZ website)
Human multiple myeloma
Preparation Note
Maintain cultures between 3-9x100,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C. Will form clusters in suspension.
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
