General description
Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic with a broad antimicrobial spectrum effecting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Erythromycin displays bacteriostatic activity, inhibiting growth of bacteria by binding to the 50s subunit of the bacterial rRNA complex, protein synthesis and subsequent structure and function processes critical for life or replication are inhibited. This antibiotic is active against Neisseria, Bordetella, Brucella, Campylobacter, Legionella, Treponema, Chlamydia and Mycoplasma bacteria.
Application
This product is recommended for use in eukariotic cells culture applications at a volume of 1 ml per liter with a recommended working concentration of 50 µg/ml. Erythromycin Ready Made solution is stable at 4°C for 2 years.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Erythromycin Ready Made solution is composed largely of erythromycin A with small amounts of erythromycins B and C. The product is a 0.2 µM-filtered solution, cell culture tested and suitable for cell culture applications. Contains 50 mg/ml of erythromycin in dissolved in 100% methanol.
