Biochem/physiol Actions
EDNRB Endothelin receptor type B (ETB) is a protein encoded by the EDNRB gene in humans. It plays a pivotal role in oesophageal cancer and may act as a therapeutic target for this intractable malignancy. It has a novel role in oligodendroglioma proliferation and acts as a potential therapeutic alternative for oligodendrogliomas. Lower expression of ETB receptor responsiveness is associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and may reflect lower endothelial-mediated vasodilatation independent of generally lower vascular reactivity.

Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal extracellular domain of human endothelin B receptor, conjugated to KLH. The immunizing peptide has 79% homology with the mouse gene and 84% homology with the rat gene.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.7, containing 0.1% sodium azide.

Overexpression of endothelin B receptor in glioblastoma: a prognostic marker and therapeutic target?
Suhas Vasaikar et al.
BMC cancer, 18(1), 154-154 (2018-02-08)
Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common malignant brain tumor with median survival of 12-15 months. Owing to uncertainty in clinical outcome, additional prognostic marker(s) apart from existing markers are needed. Since overexpression of endothelin B receptor (ETBR) has been demonstrated in

The endothelin axis has been shown to have a pivotal role in several human malignancies. The aim of this study was to clarify the clinical importance of endothelin receptor type B (ETBR) in human oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). We

Pulmonary arteries from smokers and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients show abnormal endothelium-dependent vascular reactivity. We studied the effect of cigarette smoke extract (CSE) on endothelin receptor B (ET(B) ) expression in human pulmonary artery endothelial cells (HPAECs) and its

In this study, the role of the endothelin B receptor (ETBR) in oligodendroglioma cell proliferation and survival was investigated in vitro and in vivo. The overexpression and knockdown of ETBR was conducted in Hs683 human oligodendroglioma cells, and cell proliferation and activation (phosphorylation)
