愈创木酚是一种酚类化合物，可作为超氧自由基的清除剂。它由愈创木或木炭油木制成。愈创木酚作为不同增味剂的前体，如香草醛和烘焙咖啡。它被用作治疗牙髓和牙周组织的抗菌、镇痛和镇静药物。愈创木酚增强体内细胞增殖。
应用
Guaiacol已被使用：
- 作为过氧化物酶的底物来确定其活性
- 作为确定漆酶活性的底物
- 作为过氧化物酶（POD）活性试验的试剂
生化/生理作用
愈创木酚具有抑制前列腺素生物合成的性能，不会引起胃肠道系统的损害，与传统NSAID（非甾体类抗炎药）不同。
愈创木酚和2，4，6-三氯苯甲醚是造成葡萄酒软木污染的原因。已经开发了一种用于提取和定量两种化合物的方法。
