马血清与胎牛血清（FBS和FCS）相似。其多胺氧化酶浓度较低。
马血清来自正常的马群供体。
应用
正常马血清在免疫分析中可作为封闭剂和对照品。在免疫组化和免疫细胞化学的各种研究中，以10%马血清为封闭剂。
在免疫染色实验中，马血清可用于阻止非特异性抗体结合。

马血清已用作补充剂,掺入大脑皮层神经元−胶质细胞的最低必需培养基和大鼠肾上腺髓质嗜铬细胞瘤来源PC12细胞的RPMI-40培养基。还可用于佛罗里达海牛脑切片的免疫组化分析。
生化/生理作用
马血清用于替代牛血清，为细胞培养研究提供所需生长因子和激素。马血清可刺激成纤维细胞分化及细胞外基质(ECM)和细胞因子合成。
