生化/生理作用

L-色氨酸的羟化反应在大脑的血清素合成过程中进行。该步骤调控血清素的生产，并生成5-羟基-l-色氨酸(5-HTP)代谢物。因此服用5-羟色氨酸(5-HTP)会提高血清素水平，导致抑郁、睡眠不足和剧烈头痛。
