CSDC2 (cold shock domain containing C2) gene encodes a protein with a cold-shock domain (CSD) that functions in the recruitment of mRNA to the translational machinery. It contains two double-stranded RNA-binding motifs called PIP(1) and PIP(2). These domains are found flanking CSD and they bind histone H1 degrees and H3.3 mRNAs via the ends of the 3′-untranslated region of the mRNAs that encompass the polyadenylation signal.
