ATP2A3 encodes a sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca²⁺ ATPase 3 protein in humans. It drives Ca²⁺ into the endoplasmic reticulum for maintaining the cytosolic Ca²⁺ concentration and the level of endoplasmic reticulum Ca²⁺ content. It also controls calcium sequestration associated with muscle excitation and contraction.
