Biochem/physiol Actions

GALNT2(多肽N-乙酰氨基半乳糖基转移酶2)催化蛋白质O-连接糖基化的第一步。它负责将第一个N-乙酰半乳糖胺(GalNAc)单糖附着到蛋白质上。该基因在癌症中表达上调,可能与肿瘤发生有关。它抑制基质金属蛋白酶(MMP)-2和转化生长因子(TGF)-β1的表达,从而抑制胃癌细胞的增殖和转移。它通过调节绒毛外滋养层(EVT)侵袭来调节胎盘发育。GALNT2还通过调节ENPP1(外核苷酸焦磷酸酶)的表达参与胰岛素稳态,ENPP1是胰岛素受体信号传导的抑制剂。它在2型糖尿病患者中的表达减少,因此,它可能在高血糖中发挥作用。它在口腔鳞状细胞癌(OSCC)中表达上调,并通过调节O-糖基化和EGFR(表皮生长因子受体)活性来增强OSCC的侵袭性。
