GPR78 (G protein-coupled receptor 78) gene encodes a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family that contains proteins with 7 transmembrane domains involved in signal transduction via heterotrimeric G proteins. The encoded orphan receptor is 363-amino-acid long and has three exons. The gene is mapped to a region on human chromosome 4p that is associated with bipolar affective disorder and schizophrenia.
