Application

All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. Biochem/physiol Actions

Myomesin 1 has the ability to interact with titin, a major protein that interconnects the M bands and Z discs. The N-terminal region of this protein also interacts with myosin and the C-terminal associates with integrins. It functions as a linker component connecting the myosin-network to the cytoplasmic tails of adhesion receptors. It may be involved in the regulation of genes that regulate striated muscle differentiation.

General description

The gene MYOM1 (myomesin 1) is mapped to human chromosome 18p11.31-p11.32. Myomesin 1 is most abundantly expressed in striated muscle and has a molecular weight of 185kDa. The protein consists of prototypic class-I (type-III fibronectin) and class-II (C2-immunoglobulin) motifs. It is found to be localized to the M-line of the sarcomere in adult cardiac myocytes. It is also found to be localized to the nucleus of myocytes.
