The gene KLB (β-klotho) is mapped to human chromosome 4p14. It belongs to klotho family proteins. KLB is present in adipose tissue, liver and pancreas. It is a transmembrane glycoprotein.

应用

生化/生理作用

KLB (β-klotho) interacts with FGF (fibroblast growth factor) receptors and thereby allows binding between FGF21 and FGF receptors. FGF proteins are important for regulated bile acid biosynthesis. Single nucleotide variants of KLB are associated with irritable bowel syndrome diarrhea (IBS-D) phenotype.
