IL-6 human

Recombinant human Interleukin‑6 (IL‑6) is an immunomodulatory cytokine expressed in Escherichia coli and supplied as a lyophilized powder. IL‑6 is commonly used in mammalian cell culture research involving immune cell growth and activation studies in vitro.

IL-6 has been used in mammalian cell culture research applications, including immune‑related cell signaling, activation, cytokine‑response studies in vitro, proliferation of T lymphocytes and hematopoietic progenitors.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional protein directly involved in the responses that occur after infection and is as important as IL-1 and TNF-α in regulating the acute phase response. IL-6 is produced by fibroblasts, activated T cells, activated monocytes or macrophages, and endothelial cells. It acts upon a variety of cells, including fibroblasts, myeloid progenitor cells, T cells, B cells and hepatocytes.
