凝集素是碳水化合物结合蛋白，广泛存在于真菌、植物和动物中。这些寡聚蛋白的特征是存在碳水化合物识别结构域。
应用
玛瑙螺凝集素可用于研究其在虹鳟的Gyrodactylus derjavini 寄生鳍中的结合活性。
生化/生理作用
HPA具有抗人A血型特异性，并且对末端N-乙酰基-α-D-半乳糖胺基残基具有亲和力。由亲和纯化的凝集素制备缀合物。
凝集素可用于糖缀合物的表征、成像和靶向研究。凝集素参与宿主识别和组织粘附。凝集素在体内可抗蛋白降解。
分析说明
在报道中，凝集活性以μg/ml表示，用pH 6.8的磷酸盐缓冲液连续稀释1 mg/ml溶液进行测定。 该活性是指25℃孵育1小时后使2％人A型血红细胞混悬液凝集的最低浓度。
