General description
凝集素是碳水化合物结合蛋白，广泛存在于真菌、植物和动物中。植物和动物凝集素的结构经过了各种不同研究。该蛋白的二级结构富含β折叠，表面具有糖类结合位点。
Application
花生凝集素已用于：
- 测定活性精子细胞的顶体状态（存在或不存在顶体基质，对应完整或已经过顶体反应的精子）
- 荧光染料标记PNA和B220抗体探测纵隔淋巴结(mLN)冷冻切片以检测生发中心(GC)
- 可视化预处理视网膜切片的锥体外节
Biochem/physiol Actions
凝集素可用于糖缀合物的表征、成像和靶向研究。它用于微阵列分析，可实现高效的糖组谱分析，因其特异性作用于寡糖、糖蛋白和糖脂。植物和真菌中的凝集素可抵抗病原体/害虫(feeder)侵袭。凝集素参与宿主识别和组织粘附，从而有助于微生物致病机能。
花生凝集素不会凝集正常的人类红细胞，但会强烈凝集神经氨酸酶处理的红细胞。花生凝集素具有与人血清中的抗 T 抗体相似的有效抗 T 活性。凝集素可用于区分人淋巴细胞亚群。
