General description
从 Galanthus nivalis （雪花莲）提取的凝集素是甘露糖结合凝集素，为四聚体，分子量12 kDa。它属于石蒜科（Amaryllidacea）。它对糖类 α-1,3-或1,6-连接的 D-甘露糖有特异性。雪花莲凝集素对昆虫有毒。
Application

Biochem/physiol Actions
从 Galanthus nivalis （雪花莲）提取的凝集素可抵抗害虫，用于转基因植物。雪花莲凝集作为载体，转运融合蛋白至血淋巴，在其穿过目标物种肠道上皮细胞时，表现出杀虫作用。
GNL 凝集兔红细胞；人红细胞不凝集。GNL 糖特异性指向末端糖结合物的 α-D -甘露糖残基的非还原端。

Analysis Note
凝集活性以 μg/ml 表示，在磷酸盐缓冲盐水 (pH 7.2) 中连续稀释 1 mg/ml 溶液，测定。该活性是在 25℃ 下孵育 1h 后凝集 2% 兔红细胞悬液的最低浓度。
